ANNA WROTE A SONG THAT GETS SUNG
IN AFRICA EVERY DAY!
Three years ago I wrote a song for a village in Ghana, Africa. From that day to this, the song has been sung by children in the village each morning, in school, right after they salute their flag. Just this month, a music video has been created to commemorate this song, which has now been performed live by a children's choir in Australiaand has been shared as a recording in churches and at retreats all throughout the US, many times over.

SWEET WATER
Anna Huckabee Tull
La la la la, beautiful world
La la la la, beautiful world
On this day, water has come
Gift of the earth, new day begun
Oh, Sweet water (la la la)
Sweet water (la la la)
Sons and daughters, rise up
Sweet water, fill our cup
Dig down deep, dig down deep, dig down deep
Sweet water
On this day water is here
Smile in my heart, friends gather near
Oh, Sweet water (la la la/bula nu)
Sweet water (la la la/bula nu)
Sons and daughters, rise up
Sweet water, fill our cup
Dig down deep, dig down deep, dig down deep
Sweet water
La la la la, beautiful world
La la la la, beautiful world
HOW DID THIS SONG COME TO BE?
Diane came to me three years ago to let me know she was taking a number of Bentley University students to the village of Trom, Ghana to, among other things, celebrate the induction of a new freshwater well. She wanted a song to celebrate the new well--one simple enough to teach to her students, and which they could in turn teach to the villagers in Trom. I recorded it here, in Cambridge Mass, with a youth choir and two Bentley students, and then it made the journey across the ocean. You can read the full story from my previous Song of the Month feature, or you can simply enjoy the update of a video and news of how this song lives on all around the globe! Suffice it to say, this was a wonderful project when it came along, and it's such a delight for me, and perhaps you, to see how it lives on! It can now be shared in more ways, thanks to this music video by Anne Tull.
