HAVING FUN WITH "I TOLD YOU SO:"
THE STORY OF A WISE AND PERSISTENT GUY WHO FINALLY GOT THE GIRL!
"I Told You So" - Free Download |
If some girl was too picky, then she might hold out for somebody
Who might never materialize ‘cause her standards might be way too high
But what if she just somehow knew and she waited any-hoo?
Then on her sweet wedding day, she would be the one to say
I told you so! How did I know?
Well I didn’t know, but I just hoped and hoped and hoped
That it could be this good for me and it’s good for me; the best I’ve ever known
And I told you so
I told you so! How did I know?
Well I didn’t know, but I just hoped and hoped and hoped
They all said I should compromise with some half-assed guy, but did I? No! No, no no!
And I told you so
Now, let’s say this guy turned out to be every bit as fabulous as she
And everyone saw immediately how big the pay-off for waiting can be
But, maybe he took his time too and when he found her maybe he had to do
Herculean acts of restraint galore of patience like she had never seen before
Sweating out her extended “Guyatus:” Months and months of platonic Procrastinates
Only to culminate, finally in Stacy’s great big epiphany:
This guy’s for me! And now I see how he will likely say to me…
I told you so! How did I know?
Well, I didn’t know, but I just hoped and hoped and hoped
That it could be this good or me and it’s good for me; it’s the best I’ve ever known
And I told you so, I told you so!
So come on, now! Let’s go! Let’s go!

A LITTLE BIT OF BACK-STORY
So, thirteen years ago, Sheila approached Anna after a concert and asked her if she had ever considered writing customized songs on commission. Sheila's sister Jill was getting married and Sheila thought it would be really incredible to have a song about Jill and her fiancee Jason for the reception dinner. Anna said yes to this radical idea. Little sister Stacy pitched in and sat with Sheila for the First Ever "AHT Song Interview." And a new career for Anna was born. The song was a huge success! Fast-forward thirteen or so years (but who's counting?) and Stacy falls head over keester in love with Dan despite a clearly-stated "Guy-atus." Always hatching new, mind-bending schemes, Sheila, gets the brilliant idea of creating a website to raise funding for a new song, inviting zillions of friends and family to join in, support the bride and groom, send input for the song, etc. Zillions of friends and family step forward, esecially Dan's sister Kate who has lotsa great dirt on the groom. Sheila's husband and reception co-host John was there at the crucial song sign-off moment, and so invented the word "Procrastinatus" which appears in the lyrics and shall forever live in infamy. Anna's good buddy Joe turned out to be the wedding photographer, and with his wealth of awesome and quirky shots, Anna had all she needed to bang out the fun wedding video you see here. As a bonus, Anna's (and Stacy's) friend and awesome vocalist and piano composer Sandi also pitched in to create a second song because fun is fun but every wedding needs a little tear-jerker number as well. And the rest is history.
P.S. Dan and Stacy lived happily ever after. Can you beat that?

ABOUT THE ARTIST
ANNA HUCKABEE TULL: She's a lively one. AHT is an Award-Winning Singer Songwriter who is not afraid to roll up her shirtsleeves and dig in on a story, inviting it to turn into a touching ballad, a moving "First Dance" song, or, in this case, a raucous Broadway Musical with impromptu performances from the newly dazed and dazzling Man and Woman of the hour. The song "I Told You So" was recorded at Wellspring Sound in Acton Mass with Eric Kilburn on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and mixing board. The BONUS SONG (surprise-surprise) for Stacy and Dan, entitled "In Our Hands" was recorded at Straight Up Music in Acton Mass with Sandi Hammond on keyboard and backing vocals, and Larry Luddecke on mixing board.
