ANNA'S VERY OWN TV SPECIAL!
Guess what?? My very own "Anna Huckabee Tull TV Special" airs later this month!! It's called "An Evening of Songs and Stories with Anna Huckabee Tull," and it just came out of taping and editing (HOTTTT of the press). So YOU get to see clips from it before it even airs. (Wahoo).

WHO'S THE TRUTH-TELLER IN YOUR FAMILY?
This featured song's a knee-slapping, just-plain-fun song! Many folks in the TV audience named this one their favorite. The fellow who ordered up this song commissioned it for his beloved Aunt Helen, aged 95. She's in assisted living now, but her nephew acknowledges, with love and a big dose of FUN, the incredibly formative role Aunt Helen has played throughout his life, simply by being EXACTLY who she is: a Straight-Talking, "Tell-It-Like-It-Is" Truth-Teller in a family where hints and innuendoes and "gloss-overs" generally ruled the day. When Pete, the show's producer, mailed me the finished show, he wrote, "I sure wish I had had an Aunt Helen in my family!" Imagine what kind of world we'd have if EVERYONE had their own, personal straight-talking Aunt Helen...

I come from a family
Where we all dance around
What we don’t say
And it gets to feeling discombobulating
Kinda funny
Nobody speaking out straight
And just when it gets to being that we’re all tied in knots
About what we’re not and what we say we are, in she walks…
In walks Aunt Helen
And she is tellin’ it like it is
And I’d sit back and watch the world tilt
All those carefully constructed stories that got built
No match for Truth Teller
No match for my Aunt Helen
Well I was younger then, those days she came waltzing in
So clear and brave, calling every spade a spade
It felt like a sacred shift, like the perfect gift
All wrapped up like a bomb
Exploding on the lawn
On our hats and sunglasses, our lemonade and tea
Slam that wine glass down, Helen, and speak to me!
Truth Teller, ahhh
Aunt Helen, ahhh
Well I come from a family
Where people take their stories
To their graves
And I’m just left to wonder
‘Cause there’s almost none of them left
To come clean to me today
But there is one left who’s still got some fun left
And when I look in your eyes I see you looking straight at me
And I’m looking back at you, and it’s really just we two,
I feel the world tip on its side, and it still makes me feel alive
And grateful, for the truth you were always tellin’
Aunt Helen, ahhhhhh
Aunt Helen, ahhhhhhhh
Thank you, thank you, Truth Teller
Thank you

SEND A MESSAGE TO AUNT HELEN!
In the rarest of all rare occurrences, this Song of the Month write-up was going to press a few days BEFORE this song was to be shared with Aunt Helen. Just days ago, her nephew travelled a good distance to bring it to her and share it with her in person. Her response? One of my favorite all-time quotes: "This is the best gift anyone has ever given me in my life." Any of you who wants to send a message of your own to Aunt Helen can send it care of me, at [email protected] and I will make sure it gets where it's going!
