You nailed it!The song was a HUGE hit … people were crying all across the room and John was really touched. I could see the happiness in his eyes and that meant so much to me. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and wonderful gift for him. John kept saying … I had no idea, how did you pull this off? Everyone who has known us for a long, long time (had several friends who have known us since before we got married) commented how you “nailed” it and how perfect it was!
Lisa Dinga, St. Louis, MO Surprise 60th Birthday Song for her Husband Wonderful, fabulous, amazing, I love it!
Anna, thank you so very much for this song! Wow! I was almost crying when I heard it, and looking at the lyrics afterward pushed me over the edge... tears of joy and love. I love the lyrics, I love the tune. Now I have to keep it hidden inside me until the big day when Anne hears it. For a "rough cut" this is fantastic... certainly worth the price on its own. You are truly gifted! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Glenn King, Husband upon hearing the rough-cut recording of a song for his wife My family could not believe it
The song was amazing!!! Camila cried the whole time. Luca kept on running and giggling through the church the whole time, making it a very special and happy moment to watch his innocence during such a pure moment. My family could not believe it. Even the priest, who does not speak English, loved the song. The whole church was filled with an incredible feeling of love which made the already special event even more so. Everyone now is asking for a copy of the song. You did a marvelous job. Thank you, thank you, thank you,
Horacio, Falcao, Father, Singapore Song "in the voice of" 4-year-old to his newborn brother at his baptism Will be in our hearts forever
I listen CONSTANTLY to both songs and really love them! It warms my heart to hear Oliver (my youngest) walking around the house singing "Four Boys" when he thinks no one is listening! "Not Alone" can make me cry so unexpectedly--like when I hear it in the car on the way to the grocery store.....I can't begin to tell you how special your works of art are to us. I know you are probably already on to a number of projects already-but this is one that will be in our hearts forever!!!
Maureen Basse, La Jolla, CA Two Graduation Songs for four cousins I'm stunned
I just listened to the Song of the Month and I'm stunned. I've never heard this material in a song before. I'm so impressed by the husband for inviting your help to go to these deep places in his understanding. I don't know what he did in the past, but he sure seems to be trying to reach his wife now. I can't wait to hear what happened. If I wrote that, I'd be so interested to hear his voice explain the moment of playing it, and watching her face. How could she not cry? What an honor, and responsibility you must feel, to be entrusted to deliver such important thoughts, feelings and messages between intimates and loved ones.
Alex Feldman, Song of the Month Subscriber The most meaningful, memorable way to mark our anniversary
Thanks so so much Anna. We really do feel like the song--and the process of talking with you and with each other so you could write it--was THE BEST and most meaningful, memorable and lasting way to mark our anniversary. We are very grateful.
Allison Aley, Concord, MA Renewal of Vows Ceremony Every day for the rest of my life
Thank you sooooo much, Anna, for your incredible diligence and sensitivity. You have been so fine-tuned and conscious through this process. So sensitive and willing and supportive. This song is such a healing gift for me. It's something I'll probably listen to every day for the rest of my life, and feel somehow seen and safe and honored. What a beautiful gift to myself and a beautiful gift from you to me--for such a special occasion! I'm so happy with the whole process. It's been so meaningful! And the end result is magic!
Laura Rifkin 50th Birthday Gift to Self Breathtaking!
There are no words to express what I am feeling as I hear this song. How did you do this? How did you take the words I said and know how to turn them into this? It’s just so exactly, exactly right. Breathtaking!
Anita Wagner, Researcher Christmas Gift Love Song Everyone was mezmerized
Everything was absolutely perfect! After the “I do’s,” we went inside and the DJ announced us and the wedding party. He then introduced your song. All eyes were on us! The song started to play, we began dancing together, and everyone was absolutely mesmerized! We just stared into each other’s eyes and wished the moment would never end. It was so magical. Everyone at the reception thought it was so shocking that it was really “our song.” All night people kept asking me in disbelief, “You had that song written about you, for you??!” We LOVE you, Anna, and are so grateful for you and your special gift.
Meagan Gonzalez, Bride First Dance Wedding Song A smashing hit
Jonah’s lullaby was a smashing hit. I played it Saturday night when the whole family was sitting around having a drink before dinner. I made a little announcement about what it was and they all looked puzzled. Then, when they heard it, they were visibly choked up, moved, and delighted.
Sandy Thompson, New Grandmother Lullaby for First Grandchild Every bit as wonderful now
It’s been five years now since Dick gifted me with my song, but I thought you should know we still play it regularly. The kids are always curious about it: “Is that my voice on there?” “Is this song really about us?” It’s every bit as meaningful now as it was when I first got it.

The most incredible gift I could ever have given
I just listened to "Celeste's Song," all these years later, with tears in my eyes, and wanted to thank you for the most incredible gift I could ever have
given to my mom. I have listened to it countless times and continue to do so. It probably has been even more of a gift to me than my mom, but I will NEVER be able to thank you enough for that song. You are one gifted, talented woman who touches lives in ways that can never be imagined. Celeste Edwards Mother's Day song for her mom Understanding my wife in a way I never had before
What I just can't get over is how the interview process for this song helped me to see and understand my wife in a way I never, ever had before. Through your questions, suddenly I was able to see a real glimpse of her world, through her eyes. You are a truly amazing person Anna, and I will be forever happy that our paths have crossed.
John Castleton Song "in the voice of" His Wife during a difficult passage in Their Marriage Perfect!
It is perfect! I went over the videos you made with my sister, Midge, who is the Steven Spielberg professor and Head of the Film Editing Department at USC School of Film. She loved it and wouldn't have changed a thing. So, high praise for just starting to add video to you amazingly moving songs! Thank you is so inadequate.
So with much love --RoAnn RoAnn Costin, Cambridge, MA Two Graduation Songs for sons and nephews Shocked, honored, humbled, and grateful
WOW!! All I can tell you is I had no idea the mix of talent and message that you…or anyone…had the gift to create. This is so amazing…I feel like I am at a loss for words now, and just need to listen to it a few more times. We should talk soon but until then PLEASE know that I am shocked, honored, humbled, and grateful… My wife and I listened to this twice, without talking, and after wiping away the tears, I just turned to her and I said, “She nailed it”. It was everything I wanted to say, in a way that I could have never said it…much less inside of a beautifully powerful song. Thank you. I am glad I was able to hear this alone, since I think it is more for me than the family…but rest assured they will hear it, and more importantly, LOTS of others will hear it…and lots of people will hear about you too!! It is a personal mission of mine now---that more and more people have the opportunity to find you. God bless you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Christopher P. Hill, Founder, Funeral Resources.com Song created to honor and memorialize his mother Every time I hear it, I soften more and love him more
Can you imagine that I’m fairly speechless (me?) with having a song written for me? I always imagined I’d write one with you for John, but not the other way around. It’s taken me since Monday to absorb the magnitude of this gift, which is par for the course with me, when you consider the song’s message. I sent a note to John the other day while listening to it. I let him know how touched I was and wondered why I’m such a hard nut to crack. Thank you for your part in making this a special moment of my life with John. Every time I hear the song, I soften more and love him more, and am letting it sink in, day by day.

Lucinda Jewell, Ed.M President, Depression Bipolar Support Alliance - Boston Song of the Month Subscriber, in response to a song dealing with love and metal illness Spectacular
Thank you for the spectacular songs you sang last Sunday at Kristin and Bill’s wedding. The one you composed through conversation with Bill had us all in tears. You have a wonderful gift.
Susan Hanson, Mother of the Bride Groom to Bride Wedding Song Most beautiful song ever
We played "Anam Cara" during our Vows Renewal ceremony, which was great. And Bonnie made CD's of it for all the guests. Though I think for both of us, "Sarah's Song" was the hidden gem that came from you to us. I think I've only listened to it three times, because I sob deeply during it, but in such a blessed way. It's the most beautiful song ever. Ever. Thank you so much for your heart and your artistry. Something from John Irving's novel "The Cider House Rules" has always been a spiritual short-hand for Bonnie and me, relating to helpful service to others and the Divine, which was Dr. Larch telling Homer that "You must be of use..." You are of use. Peace, --John.
Rev. John Connor Vows Renewal Song, and Song "in the voice of" Daughter Sarah Who Died Hours After Birth Wonderful gift
I wish I could reduce my feelings to words as easily as you have amplified them in a song. Not a day has gone by since Father’s Day that I haven’t either listened to “The Other Side” or caught myself singing some tender passage. Complete composure was finally achieved on about the 12th run, but certain lines still provoke a moist eye. We have shared this wonderful gift with numerous family and friends, all of whom remark at your talent and sightfulness.
Dr. Jim Joye, Cardiologist First Father’s Day Song Such a moving experience
I presented it to Amy at her birthday party. Everyone was sitting in a circle, and we were going around taking turns, sharing things we love about her. When it was my turn, I stood up, gave a little introduction, explaining that I had had this song created specifically for Amy, and then I let it play. It was such a moving experience. A lot of people in the room hadn’t even known that Amy was a cancer survivor, so it was very intense.
Erica Fox, Consultant Birthday/Cancer Survivor Song We still listen to it regularly
You should know, Anna--it’s been four years since our wedding day, but we still listen to “Grateful” regularly while we’re driving around in the car. With our daughter and now the twins to keep us busy, it helps bring us closer to each other during our most hectic days.
Rod Gonzalez, Groom Wedding Song From Bride and Groom to Each Other |
Thank you for bringing Erika alive into our lives again through music!
Oh my God! I don’t know what to say. We have been overwhelmed with such depths of gratitude and happiness since receiving and listening to this piece of Erika’s heart. We listen to this song over and over and over and over again. We have shared it with crowds of people who come to visit standing around our computer. It is beyond perfect. It is a masterpiece. I truly think it is a song that will circle this globe a million times over. I WILL MAKE SURE IT CIRCLES THIS GLOBE. You could NOT have done this better. There is not one syllable, one tone, one instrument or one anything that could have been better. You nailed it. You GOT Erika. This is exactly the song Erika would have approved. This is exactly Erika. This IS Erika. You channeled her brilliantly. Today I played it for Ana, our beloved housekeeper and family member and friend, since she’s been with us for 25 years, and she stood there sobbing. She couldn’t believe it. She felt like Erika was in this room. I feel Erika whenever I play it. I don’t know what else to say. Everyone is blown away. Everyone! Everyone cannot believe this song. I cry every time I hear it, but out of the pure essence of her spirit that comes through, not from sadness. It lifts me into a place that is so spiritual and beautiful. It reminds me of spiritual experiences in my life. Music always moves me when it’s right, but this doesn’t just “move” me, it “guides” me, like the loving hand of God, to a peaceful place of gratitude and enthusiasm and wonder. I’m blown away. Everyone is blown away. No one leaves this house without hearing that song. And I sing it all day. Driving. Walking. Shopping. Brushing my teeth. I’m singing it. I know the words. You did it, Anna. You did it. You know Erika now. I am grateful to you beyond words. You have such an incredible gift. Thank you, Anna. Thank you for bringing Erika alive into our lives through music. I hope you are crying your eyes out as you read this, because YOU, my friend, have changed our lives, and we love you beyond words for that.Thank you, dear Anna. Thank you from Erika, too. And PLEASE thank everyone who worked on this incredible song. I am your friend forever and ever.
Susan Whitmore Erika's Mom, Founder, GriefHaven.com Memorial/Celebration Song "in the voice of" Susan's daughter Erika 15 times in a row--I cried every time
Dear Ms. Anna
Did you know that from your house to mine you can listen to one song 15 times and cry every time? Did you know that you captured the essence of "us"? Did you know that you have a fabulous gift for merging the feel with the message extremely well? Did you know that in one's lifetime people only wish to make an impact on others lives maybe once ...but you do it every time you write a song for someone? Did you know I love the song and I know Bob will too..........Thank you! love, Maura Maura Scalise Song for her husband's 60th Birthday Gala Probably the very best custom songwriter out there
When our sister, Jill, got married in 1998, my sister Stacy and I persuaded Anna Huckabee Tull, who had never written a commissioned song before, to write a song about Jill and Jason and their relationship. The result was "Because I Do" and Stacy and I took the CD to Lincoln, NE and presented it at our toast at the reception. There wasn't a dry eye in the house (ok, except possibly for Jill's ex-boyfriend, who had other things to cry about). Jill and Jason have been married 12 years now, have 4 kids, and still say it was the best thing they received at their wedding. Their older kids have now learned the words because it's played with regularity in the house. In the meantime, Anna has gone on to become probably the very best custom crafted songwriter out there, and has developed a deep process of gathering information and interviewing that turns into a song that captures things from deep inside of what people want to say to each other.
Sheila Heen, Sister of the Bride Wedding “Toast” Song for Bride and Groom This is just unbelievable
The song was a huge hit. Jill was totally floored and after we played it at the reception, she held the CD case in her hands and kept saying, “This is unbelievable. This is just unbelievable.” Then, as a further testament to how great she thought it was, when I went to their place on the Monday afterwards, Jason and Jill had been playing the CD all afternoon. On repeat mode. Now how’s that for a glowing review? They are actually hoping you will record this on your next album, so they will become famous, at least by name.
Stacy Heen, Sister of the Bride Wedding “Toast” Song for Bride and Groom So overcome I can't type
I know what it's like to be so overcome with emotion that you cannot speak. I didn't know that it was possible to be so overcome you can't even type. Oh man. Absolutely beautiful.
Sarah's Song, Sarah's Uncle, Scott McKinstry An amazing night
I waited for just the right moment to play the love song for Lee. We were all alone, a fire was going, we drank some champagne, and then I told her how I am just overflowing with love for her. I put on the CD, and you should have seen her face when she realized this wasn’t just any love song. I’ve never felt about anything or anyone the way I feel about her, and I could never have imagined a song that would capture my feelings for her so exactly and so completely. Ours is an amazing love, and this was an amazing night. Needless to say, we discovered the “continuous repeat” button. The song played all night long.
Sgt. Major Lou McHutchen, Love Song Almost lost her breath
We are a huge hit!! Brooke was so pleased when we explained that you would be writing a lullaby for her as our collective [office] shower gift …she almost lost her breath.
Robert Nager, Corporate Office Manager Baby Shower Gift Song The icing and the cherry and the sparkler on the cake!
The wedding was magical in so many ways. And the surprise of the song was the icing AND the cherry AND the sparkler on the cake! At the end of the toasts, I got up and talked about how Paul and I wanted to give Virginia and Paul something extra special for their wedding--something that would be unique and non-materialistic, and express authentically things about them and their lives and their powerful nourishing connection to each other. Then I said a few words about you and the process of creating and then giving the song to them, and our delight that they were going to dance their first dance together to the song. I also said that in the spirit of sharing that was so characteristic of Paul and Virginia, we had a copy for everyone there. Then I signaled the DJ and the room was filled with your beautiful voice and the gorgeous melody of Safe Harbour. I can't count how many people came up to me afterwards to tell me how much they loved the song, and so many of them marveled at your lovely voice. It was such a bullseye in so many ways, and it meant the world to Paul and Virginia to be able to share it with everyone as a take-home gift from the wedding. In short, I feel that the wonder of this song has spread and continues to spread in many directions and dimensions--it expanded the magic of the occasion in immeasurable ways.
