We were not the kind to say I love you
We were not the kind to stand and hug
As much as you were there for me, I cannot say the same
I always thought there’d be another day
But the end came fast, when it came
And what came forth last was just the last of the pain
And in the aftermath, I am not the same
I stand here on your path, and I see you in the clearest way
And I am overflowing
With what I see
I am spilling over
With all the love you put in me
The way you gave it over and over
So easily
I can give now
Because of the way you gave to me
And so when my own days dwindle down to few
I hope to know that I have shown how my course shifted because of you
May it only be that others will say of me
The loving words they all said of you
