ANNA HUCKABEE TULL: CLUTTER NINJA
Some of you know, many may not, that my secret double life beyond songwriting involves Life Coaching. And my area of expertise just happens to be...the dynamics of clutter and release. (Wow...what are the odds?). I have, in fact, made a life's work of the study of "stuck-ness" and "flow." These dynamics show up in my songwriting. And they show up in my consulting and coaching work, all the time. So Bill, who ended up commissioning this song, initially brought me in as a clutter coach, but eventually invited the composer in me to help tackle his desire to BUST LOOSE from yet another angle. In the song interview, we made a list of all the ways he feels when he gets "stuck" in his clutter. And then another list of all the ways he feels when he is able to turn, face it, and masterfully take it on. It was from these two simple lists that the "Man of Action Theme Song" was born.

MAN OF ACTION THEME SONG
Anna Huckabee Tull
Narrator (none other than Al Huckabee!):
From time to time in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for a singular office dweller to turn and face the mountainous cacophony of detritus that has built up, and up, on the desk and shelf surfaces of said office like a corrosive soul-sucking wall of isolation and despair. In moments such as these, the creator of this towering paper nightmare must stand and call forward his deepest inner reserves of strength, clarity and resolve. Through sheer force of concentration, he will recreate his office in the image of his highest ideal.
The time is now. The location: right here.
And the hero…comes from within.
He’s the Man of Action
He is not afraid of the mess he’s made
He’s the Man of Action
Clear and decisive; efficient and incisive
Organized!
(“I’ll rank these from most useful to least.”)
Prioritized!
(“These aren’t relevant—all can be released.”)
Confident!
(“This will be a breeze.”)
Responsible!
(“I know it all comes down to me.”)
Well-rested!
(“I love my comforter.”)
Adequately fed!
(“I always incorporate proteins into my breakfast.”)
No attempt to blame!
(“Ah, the past is the past. He was probably hurting too.”)
Never, never, never, never ‘Fire, Ready, Aim”
Humility
(“I still have a lot to learn.”)
Mastery
(“To the task I shall return!”)
Passion for the Task
(“A clean office! My gateway to the future!”)
From the first shard of paper…to the last
He’s the Man of Action
He is flexible when he needs to be
He’s the Man of Action
His systems support him triumphantly
He can laugh at himself
(“Ha ha ha ha.”)
He’s not distracted…by any crap on the shelf
Deliberate!
(“Right here! Right now!”)
Magnificent!
(“My office is a sacred cow.”)
The office of a God
(“Like Zeus, I make use!”)
He is so…motivated
Slightly cocky…but not a lot
When he’s finished it is never, never, never hard to stop
He’s the Man of Action
Clearing the way for joy and play
He’s the Man of Action
From this moment forward (this moment forward, this moment forward)
He is with you every day-ay-ay-ay
Ole! Ole!
Make way! Make way!
Office Space! Office Space!
I embrace! I embrace…
My Greatness!
My Greatness!
My Greatness!
My Greatness!
(“And yet, I manage to remain humble. And I like that about myself.”)

STUDIO NOTES
That's my real life brother, New York Performing Artist Al Huckabee, doing the opening voice-over. (Check out Al's band "Ugly Stick" and their latest release) for a whole new take on what "Huckabee" can mean! That's me on vocals, vocals, and vocals. You know the drill by now: "Anna Huckabee Tull is an award-winning blah blah blah....let's cut the clutter and summarize me to be...plenty 'up for the task' once again this time around! Paul Lenart did the acoustic (Flamenco!) guitars and the percussion and bass. And my buddy Larry Luddecke, bless his heart, unabashedly stepped into the roll of the "Man of Action" voice-overs with vigor and courage. He also did the mixing, at good old Straight Up Music. We laughed a LOT while recording this. And then we all ran home and cleaned our offices!
EPILOGUE
This song works! I swear! Try it! Put this song on at high volume and get going! Wade through that slop-fest you call an office, and LET'S MAKE THIS THING HAPPEN, PEOPLE!
