The song was a huge hit. Jill was totally floored and after we played it at the reception, she held the CD case in her hands and kept saying, “This is unbelievable. This is just unbelievable.” Then, as a further testament to how great she thought it was, when I went to their place on the Monday afterwards, Jason and Jill had been playing the CD all afternoon. On repeat mode. Now how’s that for a glowing review? They are actually hoping you will record this on your next album, so they will become famous, at least by name.

I waited for just the right moment to play the love song for Lee. We were all alone, a fire was going, we drank some champagne, and then I told her how I am just overflowing with love for her. I put on the CD, and you should have seen her face when she realized this wasn’t just any love song. I’ve never felt about anything or anyone the way I feel about her, and I could never have imagined a song that would capture my feelings for her so exactly and so completely. Everything was absolutely perfect! After the “I do’s,” we went inside and the DJ announced us and the wedding party. He then introduced your song. All eyes were on us! The song started to play, we began dancing together, and everyone was absolutely mesmerized! We just stared into each other’s eyes and wished the moment would never end. It was so magical. Everyone at the reception thought it was so shocking that it was really “our song.” All night people kept asking me in disbelief, “You had that song written about you, for you??!” We LOVE you, Anna, and are so grateful for you and your special gift.

I presented it to Amy at her birthday party. Everyone was sitting in a circle, and we were going around taking turns, sharing things we love about her. When it was my turn, I stood up, gave a little introduction, explaining that I had had this song created specifically for Amy, and then I let it play. It was such a moving experience. A lot of people in the room hadn’t even known that Amy was a cancer survivor, so it was very intense.

The wedding was magical in so many ways. And the surprise of the song was the icing AND the cherry AND the sparkler on the cake! At the end of the toasts, I got up and talked about how Paul and I wanted to give Virginia and Paul something extra special for their wedding--something that would be unique and non-materialistic, and express authentically things about them and their lives and their powerful nourishing connection to each other. Then I said a few words about you and the process of creating and then giving the song to them, and our delight that they were going to dance their first dance together to the song. I also said that in the spirit of sharing that was so characteristic of Paul and Virginia, we had a copy for everyone there. Then I signalled the DJ and the room was filled with your beautiful voice and the gorgeous melody of Safe Harbour. I can't count how many people came up to me afterwards to tell me how much they loved the song, and so many of them marvelled at your lovely voice. It was such a bullseye in so many ways, and it meant the world to Paul and Virginia to be able to share it with everyone as a take-home gift from the wedding. In short, I feel that the wonder of this song has spread and continues to spread in many directions and dimensions--it expanded the magic of the occassion in immeasurable ways.
